The MLBCSI’s Basketball team placed 3rd in the overall finals for the South District 2 Meet.

As representatives, they eagerly practiced before the match and dedicated everything to bring honor to the school. They struggled in time managing between academics and practice; training between 7:00am - 9:00am, even excusing themselves in their first and second classes. Nevertheless, they did not let this stop them from their preparations. They believed that all this will be worth it.

When their first match came against Hipodromo Night High School (HNHS), all of the players were nervous as they were the very first ones to play! They felt dispirited as there were only few teachers and students who came to support them since the others were cheering for the Mr. & Ms. South District 2 Meet. Although, they did not let this get the best out of them. They encouraged one another and somehow gained their spirits back in the game, full and fueling!

The match turned out to be very thrilling, however, the school’s team lost against the HNHS. However, this did not stop their energy from winning their 2nd game against the Cebu Cherish.

This time around, the gym was full of chants as their schoolmates arrived from Hipodromo Elementary School. Happiness and gleam can be seen in each players’ eyes as they watch each of their friends cheering for them. Each player’s spirit was lifted and their dedication to winning doubled! Earning the school a win with a point of 60 - 12, clutching the 3rd place.

The players surely made the school and the students proud, bringing glory and honor. Despite not having the title of championship, they were grateful to play and represent the school. Moreover, the players think that it was not about winning, but to enjoy the game and be thankful for the opportunity to have come so far.

As per their captain ball, Jaime Aldas, “Our team worked really hard for this, I am proud of us for trying our best and we’re glad it all turned out well.”
