Science and Math Month: Curiosity Stirs Discoveries
From mere atoms, we have evolved into the powerful civilizations we inhabit today. As you stand amidst this technological age, have you wondered, “How did we get here?”. The plethora of theories, equations, and formulas aid us in our routines and understanding of the world. We owe these to the wonders of science and math. In this era of technology and modernization, we must commemorate the mathematicians and scientists who paved the way for innumerable developments and discoveries. Every September, the world celebrates in a festivity to honor the pillars of humankind, Science and Math.
The curtain rose on this festivity with the star of the show — the Science Fair, carried out by the high school department. They guided the students through various experiments, conducting them at their respective booths. The grade seven class handled the Soap, and Pepper, and ooblek experiment, the eighth graders aided the hidden message and electrostatic experiment, the ninth graders handled the Pepper and Soap experiment and Atmospheric Pressure experiment, the SSG facilitated the Slime-making experiment, the senior high school students organized the Buzz Wire challenge, and the tenth graders carried out the Lighting Candle Smoke and Elephant Toothpaste experiments. The booths demonstrated that curiosity is the core of discoveries and inventions. This event unveiled the inquisitive nature of every student who participated in the experiments.
The students showcased their wits and creativity in the afternoon through the Rubiks cube competition and poster-making contest. This event featured the talent, creativity, and intelligence of the Bradfordians. The victors of the Rubiks cube contest was Alexxsus Kristoffer Darwin Rosal for the high school category. On the other hand, the champion of the poster-making contest was Jaebrielle Therese Momongan for the high school category. These competitions perfectly showcased the complexity, the importance, and the presence of math and science.
The next day, the Math Sayaw competition commenced. The contest presented the artistry and wisdom of the Bradfordians as they showed off math symbols and themes in their graceful choreography. The exhibitions were spectacular, entertaining, and educational. But in the end, the Grade 10’s minion-themed performance snatched the champion title for the high school department.
As the curtains close on Science and Math Month, let us utilize the acquired knowledge from the celebration. It was indeed an enlightening journey of curiosity, exploration, and intelligence. This annual celebration serves as a testament to the enduring impact of science and math on our understanding of the world. Let us move forward the flame of curiosity, ignited by the discoveries and inventions of the past, into the future, where limitless possibilities await.
