On August 31, 2023, Matilda L. Bradford Christian School Inc. celebrated Buwan ng Wika with the participation of students, parents, and faculty. ⁤⁤From the Lakan and Lakambini pageant to the Sabayang Pagbikas competition, the festivity encourages the preservation of Filipino heritage.

The event’s highlight was the Sabayang Pagbikas competition, where students performed with passion, love, and patriotism. ⁤⁤The Grade 9 and Grade 10 shared victory as they tied in the competition.

The event’s hosts were the Filipino Teacher, Lai Ronette Tautho, and the Araling Panlipunan Teacher, Kierck Carlo Canuday. ⁤⁤It commenced with a prayer and the singing of the national anthem, followed by the search for the school’s Lakan and Lakambini. The search emphasized the importance of the national language and costume. ⁤⁤The atmosphere was filled with excitement and thrill as the audience supported their candidates.

The winners of the Lakan and Lakambini showcased their wits and beauty– the perfect representation of Filipinos. ⁤⁤Kiersten Misterio from Grade 2 and Marcus Sebastian Andador from Grade 1 were victors in the lower elementary category. While Khayle Gavin Gacayan and Nathan Orville Quinapondan from Grade 6 emerged victorious in the higher elementary department. ⁤⁤Hanzel Mae Perez and Edriam Jaime Aldas, both from Grade 10, were hailed as champions in the high school category.

The preparation for the festivity also displayed patriotism as students assisted each other in putting up the flaglets under the guidance of Teacher Katrina Lavador. ⁤⁤The heartwarming spirit of Bayanihan was evident throughout the preparations.

The event concluded with a unity dance led by Teacher Joy Aileen Cataluña, symbolizing the diversity and beauty of Filipino culture. ⁤⁤Buwan ng Wika is a significant event in the academe, as it commemorates the sacrifices of Filipino ancestors for independence. ⁤⁤As the event reminds us of cultural identity, it shows the importance of passing on the fire of Filipino heritage.
